Elected Positions at the State Council
The SC President is the principal executive officer of the state council, shall preside at all meetings of the state council, and shall appoint the chairs of all committees, subject to the approval of the state council. (VVA Constitution Article II, Stateprovision, Section 6 (p.11)
The state council vice-president shall assist the president, shall perform the duties of the state council president in the event of his or her inability or refusal to act, and shall perform such other duties as the state council may from time to time determine. (VVA Constitution Article II, Stateprovision, Section 6 ((p.11) The vice-president may be appointed to or request to serve on WSC committees.
The secretary shall attend all meetings and shall be the custodian of the minutes, correspondence, and other documents relating to the business of the state council. (VVA Constitution Article II, Stateprovision, Section 6 (p.11)
The treasurer shall attend all meetings of the state council and shall collect, receive, deposit, and disburse the funds of the state council as directed by the state council, and shall render financial statements and reports as may be requested by the state council or the Corporation, and shall perform such other duties as the state council shall assign to him or her. (VVA Constitution Article II, Stateprovision, Section 6 (p.12)
The Executive Director for the VVA WSC is responsible to the State Council Executive Board and immediately to the President. WSC Executive Director
The duties of a Director shall be to attend all Council meetings, to coordinate Council activities and policies with the chapters in their region, and to comply with the directives of the President.

Each of these positions are appointed by the WSC President with or without WSC Delegate approval. This could be a sole appointment with or without a time period or committee chairperson who inturn identifies the VVA and AVVA members to serve in that committee.
The Toxic Exposure Committee was originally formed in response to the effects of Agent Orange and Dioxins on those Vietnam Era Veterans who served on the ground in Vietnam. Today, the Chairperson of the Committee is charged with leading the Wisconsin Team by educating Veterans, family members, and extended members on the known effects of AO & Dioxins. Additionally, the Committee has expanded this role to other exposures included, but not limited to burn pits.
The Awards Committee is charged with recognizing those Vietnam Veterans, WSC Chapters, chapter print to electronic newsletters, and state, regional, and chapter websites.
The WSC Chaplain provides spiritual/religious care to all Veterans and their family members. The WSC Chaplain provides religious ministry to veterans and their families in accordance with their needs and desires.
Within the WSC the Constitution Committee is charged with writing the By-Laws of the state council and ensuring such By-Laws are in accordance with the VVA Constitution. This is normally done by appointed of the chairperson who may act alone or together with a small group of elected delegates to the WSC selected by the SC President or Committee Chairperson.

The Council on Veteran Affairs will communicate with the Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs, the Wisconsin District of Veteran Affairs, and the Department of Veterans Affairs in order to keep the WSC abreast of the latest state, regional, and National actions that effect Veterans and their families.

The purpose of the Education Committee is to identify and develop training options for veterans and families.

Within the Wisconsin State Council is a Finance Chair, the elected WSC Treasurer, and Co-Chair AVVA Special Advisor a person from AVVA which the WSC President appoints.

The legislative committee identifies and follows local, state, and federal legislation that has been proposed and passed and guides the membership on its impact on veterans and their families. The committee can conduct how members may elect to contact their representatives to voice their opinion on such bills.

The News portion of the committee is responsible for producing a quarterly electronic news publication sent to all Wisconsin VVA and AVVA members as well as those who have subscribed via the WSC website.
The Website portion of the Committee is charged with developing and maintaining the WSC Website and ensuring it is written in a way to present information, gain information from its users, and maintains its overall veteran-centric credibility.
The POW/MIA Committee is charged with providing the latest information on POW/MIA service members from Wisconsin serving in Vietnam, including all of the southeastern Asia theatre, In addition the committee may identify those service members returned home from early wars as well as those who served after 9/11.

The sergeant at arms assists the president with prescribed duties and politely keeps order during WSC meetings. This officer is available to help officers and directors with responsibilities, creating a smooth WSC meeting process.
