VVA At-Large Director

Wisconsin is fortunate to have John L. Margowski, Past President of VVA WSC and retired Wisconsin CVSO with more than 30 years experience serving Veterans, was elected at the 2017 VVA Convention as a VVA At-Large Director.  Margowski brings a wealth of experience since he was elected to the National Board as an At-Large Director from 2005 to 2011 and was elected as the VVA Region 6 Director from 2011 through 2015.  Moreover, Margowski has represented Veterans as a member of the VVA Board of Directors and serving on VVA Panels and Committees.

Margowski has been a life member of VVA since 1987 and was an active member and officer in VVA Chapter 414, specifically Treasurer, Vice-President, and President.  Presently, Margowski is an active member of VVA Chapter 425 and serves on its Board of Directors.

Margowski was appointed and has served as the WSC Chief Service Officer since 1988.  Margowski serves on the WSC Agent Orange/Toxic Exposure Team holding Town Hall meetings in Wisconsin and in other states.  Margowski was elected as Vice-President and President of the WSC from 1998 to 2002.

Born and raised in Indiana, John served in the USAF from 1969 - 1974, attaining the rank of Captain, and was Honorably Discharged in 1985.  John was the Assistance Waukesha County VSO from 1977 to 1986, and was appointed as Veteran Service Officer in 1986 and served until his retirement in 2009.

John is active in many Veterans organizations and is a life member of the American Legion (AL), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) and has held numerous offices within these fine Veteran organizations.  John is also a member of AmVets and Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans - Chapter 1.

Margowski has served on Former Senator Herb Kohl’s United States Service Academies Screening Committee from 1992 through 2012.  Moreover, Margowski is the recipient of numerous Federal, Regional, State, and County awards for his dedicated service to our nation’s Veterans.
